And just to clarify this one last time, @philipaklein, my position is: "Trump appointed a good judge?Okay. But you should not spend undue time on it, because it takes away from attention you should be spending on the destruction of the system that judge must serve." /1
@philipaklein The "I'm not really for Trump, but I am really sort of for Trump" conservatives keep pointing to judges as the salve over some minor woulds that somehow will now staunch the bleeding from all the arteries Trump is severing. It makes you feel better, but it's pointless. /2
@philipaklein Those judges you like are now going to serve in a system that has been, for the first time in our modern history, subjected to a cult of personality rule. Some of them, I am glad they are there. Some, I am not. But the system is now heavily damaged, and judges can't fix it. /3
@philipaklein "I got some judges, and all I had to do was look the other way while the executive branch melted down and took the basic norms of the rule of law with it" is not a pro-constitution position. And if want Trump in 2020, this is not a pro-Constitution position either, imo. /4x
