This latest episode, with Singal launching a broadside against *yet another* trans woman of letters, is yet another demonstration of his transmisogyny. He's defending a doctor who calls trans people "dangerous" and akin to "identifying a a cucumber."
He then attacks the woman who's pointing this out, calls her a "cop," and condemns her for antagonising someone who merely "wrote a blog post skeptical of youth transition." This is the kind of opinion laundering Singal does for the more nakedly virulent bigots that surround him.
Calling trans people a threat to civilisation and saying we "indoctrinate" children becomes rational "skepticism." This is why we say this man is obsessed with us. Who else would or could blast such blatant, easily-disproven falsehoods about us over social media?
It's wearisome. I wish I could ignore it, but given his platform and connections, his sad little crusade against us actually has the capacity to harm the most vulnerable. He wants to go after our kids by silencing the adult women who are the only ones standing up for them.
In all my years being out, in all my years studying extremism and online hate, I could never understand the motivations of people like him. Who devotes their talents to persecuting whole classes of children? But we live in an age where that's fashionable, I suppose.
And now that Glenn Greenwald has gotten in on the act by stanning for Mr. Singal, well...
