Let me explain why these repeated tragedies, this rash of terrorist attacks, *are* the logical conclusion of Southern et. al.'s arguments.
When you argue that Islam and Muslims are irredeemably backward and violent, that they constitute an invasion, a "Great Replacement" (which Southern herself made a video about, with that title), and when you get people to sincerely believe this...murder becomes the logical option
Southern went to Australia to cast aspersions on that nation's Muslim community, caterwauling about how unsafe she felt, and how there wasn't even a British pub in the diverse Melbourne neighbourhood she was filming in. (There was one right behind her, as it happened.)
She and many like her seek to create the impression of nations under siege, of a genocide of white Europeans, all at the hands of implacable, ontological evil. What, then, is the solution to this? It can only be the final one advocated by Australia's Senator Anning.
This is why when you press many right wingers about what their policy prescriptions actually are, they often call for halting immigration but are eerily silent about the Muslim citizens who are already in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, etc. Do you wonder why?
It's because they don't dare to speak the logical conclusion their ideology calls for. If everything they're saying is true, what other options are available? At best, *cultural* elimination of Islam, forced de-conversion and an end to religious freedom. At *best.*
The reality, however, is closer to what happened in Quebec City, Finsbury Park, and now Christchurch.
Lauren Southern is saying what she needs to say because these extremists know that these tragic moments--when the apotheosis of their ideology is realised--are the moments people are most likely to turn on them. So they cosplay a poor imitation of decency.
But they'll be back to ranting about the implacable evils of Muslims and Muslim immigration and the total incompatibility of "the West" with Islam. Give it a few weeks if not mere days.
And someone else, hopped up on this hatred, spewing the "deus vult" and "remove kebab" memes that are the lightly ironised version of Southern's bigotry, will take things to their logical conclusion once more.
