I'm glad that this fairly common sense step is *finally* happening. I am slightly stupefied as to why it couldn't have happened at the start of the election campaign. Imagine if ad rules in the US had only come into effect two weeks before the midterms. (2/)
Moreover -- and I know I'm beating a dead horse, here, but apparently we still haven't learned this -- ads are among the least pernicious ways of delivering disinformation. The inauthentic *organic* content is what's really bad. (3/)

Two months later, we finally have ad rules, yay! But we still don't have data on what the organic engagement on those accounts looked like.
It's hard to see this as anything but blatant dereliction of duty & disregard for 45 million Ukrainians and their budding democracy. (/end)
