Spent the whole of yesterday interacting with students from NLIU Bhopal, MANIT Bhopal, and from other colleges in Bhopal and nearby cities. Came out refreshingly hopeful of the future. Given facts and the rationale of the Indic perspective, students are indeed receptive to it.
2. There is a lot of interest among students in understanding Indian history and the question of Constitutional morality, especially considering the constant controversy surrounding it. Give them facts, context and sane arguments, not propaganda. It works. I have seen it work.
3. Snippets of the offline interaction with students after my session on Constitution and Faith at NLIU Bhopal at a symposium on Constitutional law organised jointly by NLIU Bhopal and @indfoundation.
4. Contrary to the perception created by media, students are more than happy to hear diverse views on every issue and are open to even arriving at politically incorrectly conclusions. They are capable of breaking out of peer pressure and acceptance when given the right arguments.
5. And for those who assume that the gender ratio is skewed in such discussions, pls watch this again. Thats why I maintain the position that there is still a lot of hope provided we approach these issues with preparation and balance.
6. Here are snippets of the media's coverage of yesterday's talks. Obvious Caveat - I cannot vouch for the media's accuracy.
7. If the Tilak on my forehead creates a mental barrier in ur head, neither am I the problem nor is the Tilak. The problem is in ur head and ur conditioning is to be blamed for it. U need professional help :-)
8. At my second talk in Bhopal yesterday, I was given d traditional welcome with Tilak and grains of rice which were applied on my forehead. The momento was a shalabhanjika.Young students organised the event and were in charge of everything.Proof that there is still a lot of hope.
9. I will be interacting with students over the next few months. Will share the itinerary well in advance on Twitter
10. Congratulations to NLIU Bhopal and @indfoundation on conducting a symposium on relevant Constitutional issues at a place outside Delhi.
