@meyers_andi @georgeshik @steph93065 @realDonaldTrump For anybody out there that thinks that tRump’s Wall is a good idea, why do you think that? Have you read studies that I have missed? For instance, how many illegal immigrants is it estimated that a wall would stop, since illegal immigration is at a multi-year low.
@meyers_andi @georgeshik @steph93065 @realDonaldTrump He’s now asking for over 8 billion, which is just getting it started & nowhere near completing it. What do we get for 8 billion? If it deters just a few thousand illegal immigrants, the average cost to stop just ONE could be millions of dollars! Is that worth it?

You must have some data or some studies that project that a “wall” would have “X” amount of value, & how else to measure that other than how many illegal immigrants it would stop

Surely you don’t make decisions about spending 8 BILLION of our tax dollars without serious analysis!

When did border crossings become an emergency? Why is it an emergency now, when illegal crossings are at a multi year low?

How are you defining “emergency”? The timing of the proposed solution doesn’t make sense unless your definition of the word “emergency” isn’t the commonly accepted one.
@meyers_andi @georgeshik @steph93065 @realDonaldTrump @HawleyMO @RoyBlunt @RepAnnWagner Back to cost benefit analysis, a wall would have to decrease illegal immigration by thousands more immigrants than are already stopped with our current methods in order to be cost effective. The cost per person could well run into millions if only a few thousand more are stopped.

The 8 billion would only be a down payment on a wall, so wouldn’t it be an ongoing money pit?

What do your studies say about the quantity of illegal drugs that would be kept out by a wall? What’s the evidence that the drugs stopped would be worth that expenditure of 8 billion to start a wall, instead of increasing airport security?
@meyers_andi @georgeshik @steph93065 @realDonaldTrump @HawleyMO @RoyBlunt @RepAnnWagner If most illegal drug smuggling occurs via air or sea transport, the 8 billion dollar startup money for this “wall” again sounds like a high cost/ low reward proposition. If it did reduce drug trafficking over the border, wouldn’t the drug traffickers just switch to air or sea?

We certainly expect that they should make responsible, informed spending choices.

We are told that most illegal drugs come into the USA by air or sea. Do you have information that disputes that? Can you share your sources?
