I hope this is a sincere moment of self reflection for activists like myself who speak about religions, often in a bad light. I hope that people will pause and think "Before I say this, what can the outcome be? Will it or can it be used to increase hate against a community?" /1
Let's continue to speak out and fight bad dogma, while at the same time ensuring that we aren't just throwing a "I love Muslims" or "I'm against bigotry" bone when we are accused of doing so. It needs to be a central part of your message. I support the rights of believers. /2
I do not believe and will not stand for or support any sort of discrimination against Christians, Jews, or Muslims. I will stand up for your right to practise your religion, to worship freely, with the caveat that you also give me my rights not to believe in or practice. /3
Let us follow the enlightenment values of freedom of religion, freedom of belief, freedom of conscience. This is the moral way forward. Everyone has the right to choose for and to be themselves. /4
If you are a public figure, look and see how many of your followers praised the recent massacre or tried to justify it somehow like saying "That mosque was spreading terrorism".

If there's a lot, this should be a moment of self reflection. Which crowd are you catering to?/5
Nobody has said it better than my friend @ReasonOnFaith: Ex-Muslim, originally from the Ahmadi Muslim Community. I critique Islamic theology (incl. Ahmadiyyat). I detest anti-Muslim bigotry. ReasonOnFaith.org /6
This is so important. It doesn't matter if there was only one or two or three cold blooded murders against Muslims compared to jihadi attacks (on Christians or on Muslims). This isn't a competition!! We have to stop this hate in its tracks. /7
The path to evil, the path to the dark side does not occur overnight. Hitler demonized a people slowly and steadily. We can't go down that path again. We have to speak up, especially us activists. Political leaders also have an important role to play and have to speak up. /8
