I often complain re: lack of leadership.

So here's a brave speech by @GLandsbergis of Lithuania's Homeland Union, speaking against Orban's brand of illiberal populism: "[We should be] building & strengthening Europe, not dismantling it."

EPP voted to suspend Fidesz. Do read /1
" I doubt that you, Mr Orban, would find it flattering to be seen as a defender of a certain kind of the 'new religion.' Christian love, compassion for fellow beings, constant search for truth and virtue -- these, I believe, are the values upon which the EPP is built ... /2
... upon which the EU is built, and I don't think we should have any disagreement on that. However, if you would try to justify that these lies, upon which your political empire seems to be built, are the values that you are defending -- well then, we are in disagreement." 🔥🔥/3
And on dealing with the issue of silence against these rising forces:

"Mr Orban wants to win his election, & he needs enemies. In this case, we are the enemy. Since we didn’t object and didn't fight back, he was sure the victory will be easy to achieve... /4
... Isn’t it nice when your enemy of choice simply is not eager (or aware that he needs) to fight?" /5
