Pitiful to hear Corbyn supporters tortuously try to find ways to justify their hero's total lack of leadership.
What happened to the brave left-winger who would fight for his principles? This one just prevaricates over an anti-immigrant policy which'll disproportionately hurt the working class.
Honestly it is astonishing that so many members of the public are still opposed to Brexit, given there is basically no political leadership on it.
In a way, both main parties have submitted to that appalling May argument yesterday: They no longer think for themselves. They just try to fit around their sense of public opinion, based on a two year old referendum.
Perfectly possible that Labour's internal dynamics will eventually lead it to a better policy. But we'll never know where the debate would be now if there'd been an effective & engaged opposition leader over the last two years.
Anyway I still have my fingers crossed Corbyn will sort his act out, or be forced to. But my instinct is that we're caught in a death spiral, with an unspoken conspiracy by the ERG, the govt and the opposition front bench to run down the clock.
