1/ Of course “ghosting” is such a loaded term it elicits this kind of angsty response. I have suggestions in stead of vitriol
2/ Start by assuming the person you want a response from is a good person. While not always true, odds say this is probably true. So we need to understand why he / she isn’t as responsive as you’d like
3/ remind yourself that nearly ALL of the important & busy people you want / need to know in life will be less responsive than you want. So in stead of angst why not realize that YOU need a plan for how to overcome this better than others do - it’s a secret key to success
4/ Most good people you meet will be very clear when they’re sure it’s a “no, not ever” so the fact you didn’t get this says you’re probably in the game
5/ reasons some busy people might be less responsive than you want
- working in a big, stressful deal
- under pressure from their boss at work
- family problems (parental health, child with autism, sibling with drug addiction) ... yes, we’re all human
6/ some busy people just suck ah email. They could still be very valuable to you. Know who else sucks at email?
- senior business decision makers
- journalists
- corp dev departments
- conference organizers
- hard to hire employees
7/ I would argue one of the CORE skill sets of a talented entrepreneur is knowing how to get past “no” or “unresponsivenes” ... here are some techniques ...
8/ techniques
- multiple but super polite emails
- soft approach on social
- polite text if you have #. DM, PM, etc
- figure out who knows the person to super politely weigh in on your behalf
- find out what events they’ll be at. Find a way to be there
- comment on blog posts
8/ techniques cont ...
- get to know other people on their office / org
- drop a thoughtful personal, hand written letter
9/ The thing is EVERY SENIOR EXEC is hard to access for all of us. No matter how senior you still have to deal with unresponsiveness from others....
10/ Final ....

“Learning how to deal with people who don’t respond is a super power. You can be angry. Or you can realize it’s a chance for you to do better than your peers.”
