As I said: Economists left and right agree. Here’s Greg Mankiw who chaired the CEA under Bush 43: Stephen Moore “does not have the intellectual gravitas for this important job.”

“It is time for Senators to do their job. Mr. Moore should not be confirmed.”

Indeed, even Stephen Moore thinks that Stephen Moore is unqualified to sit on the Fed board:
An amazing backstory: Stephen Moore wrote a WSJ oped claiming:
1. The US is experiencing deflation
2. Volcker tamed inflation by linking interest rates to commodity prices.

Both claims are false.

Trump read the oped, loved it and offered him a Fed seat.

He's not just a mediocre economist, he's also a deadbeat dad:

Moore "was found in contempt of court after failing to pay his ex-wife..alimony, child support and other debts."

"he admitted all the allegations in Allison Moore’s divorce complaint"

I thought long and hard before posting this link, unsure whether it was ad hominem, and beneath me.

But when it comes to deadbeat dads who abuse the legal system to hurt their families, it gets personal for me. These guys deserve nothing but our collective contempt.
So I should be clear: I wrote this not as an economist, but as the biological son of a litigious prick who abused his financial and legal leverage to harm his family.

More positively, I wrote it as a father determined that my generation of dads should do better.
