People ask me why I bother conversing with those who are anti Israel or who condemn Israel with no real understanding of the situation. 1- I believe in people & I'm an optimist 2- it's hard to fault people when the education materials they're given, the sources they have, the ppl
...they follow are disingenuous, biased & have an anti Israel agenda. Colleges teach a 1sided narrative. Language used is extreme. The conflict is put into terms that resonate with ppl outside of the region (race/power) & their innate desire to support oppressed ppl is exploited
& unless they hear other POV, it will only get worse. No, it doesn't often help, but sometimes it does. Sometimes people listen & do some exploring on their own. Sometimes they look into history & start to ask questions. Sometimes they follow others who show other information
But mostly it's because this conflict will never be solved with false information. And all the screaming and name calling on Twitter won't make a difference for the people living with the conflict, it will only sow division & hate among those who take sides and condemn each other
I've already been called racist for pointing out facts because people can't imagine that things other than race go into a conflict and its easier for them to reduce all arguments by vilifying the other. These people don't improve the world. They bring it backwards
Anyway, I'm done now. But please, if you actually care about the people of this region, take the time to do some research, listen to those who live here & who work towards peace for both peoples. Anyone who says the other side is all evil is not someone's info you can trust
one thing that I consistently cannot understand, is how people who do not live here, and who do not know even the slightest outline of history here can be so sure of themselves and speak with such conviction about what's happening here. I see it constantly
And I just know.. I would never speak with authority about something with that I didn't at least study if not experience to some degree. The hubris is massive, as is the unwillingness to listen to someone who challenges their POV. And facts? the moment I mention facts, I'm a Nazi
