1/ Shell & Eni's trial in Milan continues this morning. The companies, senior execs and a former minister are charged with international corruption offences for allegedly paying $1.1bn into a bribery scheme in Nigeria, they deny the charges. Tweeting to this thread this morning. 
2/ Not 100% clear what we'll hear this morning. The middleman Emeka Obi, already convicted in a related trial, was slated to give evidence but he's likely to decline to answer questions.
3/ First a discussion about the expert witness testimony. The difficulties of translating technical evidence is the main issue but settled with the prosecutor and Nigeria's experts next week on 3rd & 4th April. The defendants experts will be heard the following two weeks.
4/ Now there's a fairly arcane discussion of Shell's emails seized by the Dutch authorities in 2016, questions whether the procedure was correct but the company appears to have handed over the same documents anyway. Defendants want more time to read and digest them.
5/ Written arguments on the use of these documents to be presented by next week otherwise the prosecutor's position that the documents can be used with just be accepted.
6/ That's it for the hearing this week. No evidence from witnesses today in the end. The legality of the deal under Nigerian law has been a point of contention in public and in the separate middlemen's trial so the experts should be interesting.
