Let’s look at opinion of ACA/Obamacare. (A surprisingly short thread for me!)

After being underwater since passage, opinion shifted in favor following the 2016 presidential election and has held modestly net favorable. 1/n
Specific parts of ACA have almost always polled as much more popular than the bill as a whole, with the exception of the individual mandate which was always unpopular. The invaluable @KaiserFamFound tracking polls have consistently said so. Note GOP support for most. 2/n
@KaiserFamFound This broad support for specific provisions raises the question of how to argue for complete repeal/court overturn of all of ACA. Preexisting conditions is the poster child for this problem. While many GOP still favor repeal, they simultaneously like most provisions. 3/n
@KaiserFamFound As a straight up question of keep or repeal, the margin for keep is about the same as that for favorable vs unfavorable. (thanks to @pollreport PollingReport.com for this table. )

@KaiserFamFound @pollreport The one poll with results counter to this is a December Politico/Harvard poll that asked about the importance of repeal. 53% said repeal should be priority, 43% said not. Other items in that poll had much higher support for “improvements” to ACA, so a somewhat mixed message. 5/n
There has been a substantial fall off in polling about ACA since the failure to pass legislation in 2017. I imagine that might change in the next week or two now that the Administration has brought the issue back to front-and-center. 6/6 fin.
