diversity of opinion within a political party is always important and healthy to a degree however there is of course a line. It is unfair on the electorate to inhabit a Party whose values are not properly representative of your own.
Let’s remove this from the contentious Brexit issue. Imagine you have a constituency who are opposed to HS2. Are they not entitled to select an MP who shares that view & will promote it. What if that MP promised to oppose HS2 and then broke his back trying to get HS2 through.
And if yet further that MP stood on a national manifesto which promised to oppose HS2 and this MP decided to break away from that party promise and manipulate every procedure going to HS2 through would this person be considered to be honourable?
Sadly because Dominic is convincing as a lawyerly, considered, moderate, it deflects from the reality which is that he holds a very immoderate position as compared with his peers. Please recall he voted to cancel Brexit this week: that is not a respectable or credible position.
