Thread. Dear ‘good guy’ porn user, the one who claims they don’t watch sexual violence, I have a few questions. Is there any ethical pornography? Can porn ever be considered o.k. and just naked women smiling?

If we ignore all of the evidence that show that porn contains and promotes MVAWG & fosters damaging views about women and entertain the notion that somewhere out there on the internet there exists videos of naked women just having a good time, what about the production?

Objectification of Women
Porn teaches that women are objects for male sexual gratification. Women’s pleasure is no concern for the porn user, it is not an interaction, and it is not a physical conversation between two people. Women are anonymous fucktoys.

Porn at its heart is the eroticisation of dominance and submission. As Dworkin said, porn is the propaganda in the war against women. Porn follows trends in social hatred, it helps dehumanise the ‘Other’.

Dear ‘good guy’ porn user who argues that the women are happy, they have chosen to be there, chosen to please him – the anonymous stranger. This is a self-protecting lie.

Choices are not made in a vacuum, given any other possibility would that woman or teen be there doing that? If it is such a free choice why is it that the economically vulnerable tend to have this desire, rather than the well off?

Dear ‘good guy’ porn user, I think you know the women are being exploited. If the American porn industry alone has an estimated turnover of $4 billion dollars why aren’t their legions of young women who are multi-millionaires?

Is it because they aren’t paid properly, have few to no legal rights and don’t receive any copyright? The payment model is for scenes and once sold your image becomes someone else’s property to profit from.
