Every #EqualPayDay I like to educate the fine people of Twitter the difference between the uncontrolled wage gap & the controlled wage gap! Ready?
The uncontrolled wage gap is what you see referenced by feminists. That is $.79 on the dollar. And it is true. The *average* woman makes $.79 to every $1 the *average* man makes.

But this gap does not consider what KIND of job is being worked, how many hours, education, etc.
The controlled wage gap considers factors. Education, hours worked, position held, etc. When all factors are exactly the same, women make $.999999... to every $1 a man makes, which is within the margin of error.
And say that there was truly a 1 cent gap between men and women when all factors are considered, does that mean there is systemic sexism preventing women in America from making as much as men? NO!
The controlled wage gap still doesn’t account for factors like negotiation skill or end of year bonuses for job performance. There is no evidence whatsoever that women are paid less than men as a rule. At all.
Now, say someone says, well, the uncontrolled gap is still a problem, because the reason the avg woman makes less than the avg man is because she’s being told she shouldn’t take the same kinds of jobs a man takes. She feels pressured to stay at home. Sorry...no.
In some cases, sure. Single moms working multiple jobs certainly don’t have it easy. But (and here’s the kicker feminists hate acknowledging), women *in general* are simply innately more likely to choose to work less than men. That’s right. I said innately. Deal with it.
Sweden mandates 480 parental leave days for both men and women in an effort to eliminate the gap. And yet the gap remains.
Let’s also take a looksy at the majors women vs men are choosing in college and how that corresponds to median income. (From Dept of Ex & Payscale)
*Ed. Huh. Looks like women, again, make different choices than men. Well, a feminist might say, the patriarchy makes women feel that they MUST go into English and social work and that they CAN’T be electrical engineers!
So now we’re just in the realm of total speculation, which is always what happens when you push back on the pay gap narrative. They start making claims that aren’t falsifiable, thinking they’ve won. (Nevermind we disproved their original claim long ago)
But there’s no evidence to prove women feel that way. There are countless programs to get women into STEM, for example, yet the gender gap is still huge. Moral of the story, people, MEN AND WOMEN ARE INNATELY DIFFERENT & THUS MAKE DIFFERENT CHOICES WITH DIFFERENT CONSEQUENCES.
That one tweet should say salary, not income. Anyway, goodbye & have a great #equalpayday celebrating the fact that gender pay discrimination doesn’t exist!
