1/ Sad to share this story of a inquest into the death of an amazing young mental health campaigner, Claire Greaves, who died whilst detained in a mental health hospital. Inquest jury found multiple serious failings. I acted for Claire’s parents. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-…
2/ I have acted in many inquests but this was a difficult one. Members of the jury were weeping when giving the conclusion. Credit to Claire’s parents for giving an interview to the BBC bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-…
3/ The BBC has listed some but not all of the failings identified by the jury. Hopefully Cygnet Hospital will learn from them. 
4/ A final thought - without the Human Rights Act, these kind of thorough inquests into systems failings would simply not be possible. They are an innovation which has only happened because of the ‘investigative duty’ under the right to life. Just one reason to protect our HRA
