Turns out, India has had a Lambda for decades.

It's called Infosys $INFY.
This is not at all meant to undermine what Lambda is doing and has shown potential for, by modifying a few critical aspects (more on it later).

Those who know Infosys, they'd know I'm referring to their 6-month graduate training programm at the famed Mysore training center. /2
$INFY has long maintained an unfair advantage on talent courtesy this program.

The 'students' (fresh grads) stay at the fab campus, are trained on various tech $INFY forecasts its need for talent in and are paid 'stipend' typically half their promised salary during these 6m. /3
I know many who have chosen $INFY over other IT/ITeS cos post campus because of this 6mo training program.

It has worked for $INFY. And it worked for India, for the time.

But Lambda makes few critical tweaks and unlocks 🔓 true potential for such a program. /4
(Sorry for the abrupt hiatus. #SilkBoard traffic cleared.

Back to Lambda. What does Lambda do differently to make this phenomenon explode. /5
1. It removes two arbitrary (business-model-driven OldCo) restrictions:
A. Where students come from
B. Where students may & can go after

2. It raises the ambition level of those students

And BOOM! 💥 /6
Let me deep dive a bit.

On 1A, there is no restriction on students to be graduates, to have certain course degrees or have a degree from a list of colleges. /7
On 1B, there are 2 parts
First, you 'may' go anywhere after the program. You don't have to work at Lambda. Of course.

Second, you 'can' go anywhere; Lambda actively helps by partnering with aspirational cos and proving it's students are fab. This will keep on getting better. /8
On 2, it's again two parts - encouraging + enabling

Lambda constantly encourages you to believe you can get into your aspirational cos and get paid attractively if you're skilled.

It actively enables ambition by partnering with aspirational cos & removing cost bottlenecks. /9
India has historically been big on education. Especially the large burgeoning middle class, and specifically on STEM and MBA.

A lot of Lambda inspired biz will emerge here in the next 3 years. There will be a gold rush.

Clearly there is potential to deliver value here. And space for many. /11
While there is no doubt the business model is very promising, and will generate huge value, there is an important aspect I'd draw attention to:

This model offers a unique opportunity to India to RAISE THE LEVEL OF AMBITION 🚀 of its youth. At a very opportune time. /12
There have been many previous attempts, outside of $INFY etc, to build 3rd party skill-gap-bridging companies.

Many of them have been CF+, profitable, decently sized.

But they haven't realized the full upside of this endeavor for themselves, & hence the economy. /13
OldCos. ☝️

I hope the NewCos will also be focused on RAISING THE LEVEL OF AMBITION OF THE YOUTH 🚀 they will send into the workforce.

They are the best placed to do so. /14
To all the NewCos working on this - We are looking forward to seeing your evolution. We're watching you. 👁️ And we're rooting for you. ✊

May the MOST AMBITION- ENABLING NEWCO win! 🚀

Also excited to see if/when @Austen brings @LambdaSchool here. 😊

Huge pie. 🍮 Competition raises the ambition for every serious participant.
