I can use the power during an outage, or I can program the software through an app on my phone to hold some in reserve and use the rest after the sun goes down.
It charges in the morning when the sun comes up, excess power is sent to the grid, and then it discharges at night to power the house. (Green = battery charge/discharge; yellow = solar power; grey = power to the grid)
It usually charges by midday, then sends power to the grid. Its capacity means that it takes at least 2 cloudy days in a row before I’m forced to use the grid. In 10 months I’ve sold 4 times as much power back (at high time-of-use rates) than I’ve purchased (at lower rates).
And I get a tax credit for the entire system. But the kicker: the State’s “Self-Generating Initiative Program” just sent me a rebate check for 60% of the cost of the battery!
This is not a paid endorsement. I HATE @Tesla. Their liar-on-commission sales staff are wasted oxygen. Their engineer-by-guesswork plan submittal staff couldn't easily get their own product through City plancheck.
