So, how do you get people to wake up with everything that his happening?
To suddenly see the corruption & how pervasive it, while not triggering people to defend the guilty?
You make it about celebrity so everyone notices it.
You make it about something many can relate to.
Then you let it grow outward after everyone is aware of it. Everyone is offended by it then you reveal the deeper corruption while folks are assembling their pitchforks & torches!
If you haven't noticed yet, something is happening with the #collegescandal
The news may have started covering it because of the celebrity connections. But this doesn't start or end with #AuntBecky She just served to make everyone aware of it! The face who launched a thousand memes, letting the scandal penetrate to people who think #ButNothingsHappening
The #admissionsscandal is also one that touches many Americans, including that middle class demographic that the Democrats think they own. Everyone who ever got rejected by a college or had a child rejected, it becomes personal. Did they or their child lose out because of bribes?
So if these people get indicted on other crimes: tax evasion, bribery, fraud, money laundering, etc. Is anyone going to snap to defend them? Nope, they are going to assume crook in one thing, crooked in everything.
They lose the benefit of the doubt the parents & universities.
When #DukeUniversity pleads guilty to taking $200M in grants & then providing fake studies to the EPA to enact regulations. No one is going to believe it's an honest mistake & the taint will also spread to the EPA regulators who paid them for that result.
Nor will they believe @DukeU when they in the near future claim that they didn't know what was happening with their off-shore shell company investments that may be implicated in major foreign bribery cases.
What happens when everyone who has student debt (including those who think it should all be forgiven) realize that universities are charging so much money, & then it is getting laundered into investments run by board members or their friends. Who are then bribing politicians?
That's how you get to pitchforks & torches! (But no Tiki torches please!)
That's how you remove societal level corruption that has infiltrated major sectors of our economy & our government.
So how do we get there? Well did you see what happened Friday? #ButNothingsHappening
Well, one of the parents got convicted in a $1.3 Billion healthcare fraud scheme. Some of us retweeted that news, but I didn't realize he was part of the college admissions scandal too! How do you commit fraud that big? Bribe a lot of people to help! bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
When you are accused of pocketing $37M out of $1.3B, a lot of that money went to other people & places! But I suspect everyone's sympathy meter will be at 0 for a guy who payed bribed to steal another kid's spot at college & got rich making everyone's health care more expensive!
However, I think the bigger story is one of the other parents. Gordon Caplan announced on Friday that he will plead guilty! Multimillionaire lawyer bribing someone to take his daughter's ACTs. Not a very sympathetic character. But is he more interesting? bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Caplan will certainly have to cooperate with the feds as part of his guilty plea. That might get quite interesting, as I've said before, what happens if you flip the lawyers that helped businesses & the Swamp evade taxes & set up shady deals?

So what kind of law did he practice?
Would you believe he specialized in 'private equity' thinks like taxes, trusts, estates, mergers & acquisitions. Not a small firm either, 700 lawyers & he was one of the Co-Chairs of the firm. Now if he was involved in any shady deals, that would negate attorney client privilege.
One of their partners was busted in 2014 for setting up fictitious vendors & bilking 2 firms out of $5M. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
IF Mr. Caplan is involved in other criminal conduct, just like Mr. Esformes, he could have used his role a counsel to negotiate & close deals using his knowledge of financial & political regimes to help his customers get the maximum benefit for their cross border business!
I guess time will tell, but it seems like something else might be happening...
#ButNothingsHappening
Unless you know what to look for!
Huh, guess which firm represented Bloomberg & tried to force the Federal Reserve to reveal the identities of financial firms that would have collapsed without the 2008 bail outs. Interesting...
