In the UK, a major controversy has broken out, with NHS gender clinicians resigning & revealing their worries about gay kids being wrongly transitioned & a poor evidence base. Meanwhile, in the US, unregulated gender docs administer cross-sex hormones to 8-year-olds.
Interestingly, in this leaked 2018 post provided by our source in the affirming-parents FB group, at least one mother has been cleared by her 8-year-old's endocrinologist to start T now. Other members seem surprised. 
Endocrinologist recommended T at the *first appointment* with the 8-year-old female child. Why? Because prolonged use of Lupron can damage bones. And besides, the child would get to experience "early pubertal changes" similar to "other boys."
It's "atypical" to start an 8-year-old female on testosterone, but the endocrinologist thought it would result in a "better outcome." Another commenter thinks T at 8 could be a good idea for "insistent, consistent, persistent" kids. (We're talking about a 2nd or 3rd grader here.)
"No one wants their [8-y-old] kid to be first" to be researched, but Lupron is expensive & can cause bone issues if used too long, so...
