[THREAD] The corporate media has been hard at work pushing Pete Buttigieg to a national spotlight as a progressive. The corporate media also lies though, all the time, and I take the supposed lack of a record as a challenge.
First, you can always count on CNN to have the dumbest takes thanks to Chris Cillizza. cnn.it/2Fr1ijJ
A multilingual Rhodes Scholar, he sounds like he's straight out of the book Listen Liberal by Thomas Frank. jacobinmag.com/2019/04/pete-b…
The first article I saw about Pete Buttigieg is what raised a million red flags, one of which is that he used the term social justice warriors when talking about student labor protesters who demanded a living wage for Harvard janitors and food workers. currentaffairs.org/2019/03/all-ab…
From the same article in regards to the war in Iraq, “we who were against the invasion had been wrong about the weapons, but right about the war." Sounds like what a warhawk would say to me.
I've been watching high end Democratic donors and strategists shift around to different candidates as they get debunked one after the other, going to various media outlets to say how cool Pete Buttigieg is. finance.yahoo.com/news/pete-butt…
NYTimes does just as a horrible reporting job as CNN. nyti.ms/2FMz5CP
Here's a couple of actual quotes from the NYTimes piece. Celebrated for being able to speak to the coastal elite and have no populist resentment.
I would like to know how one can claim to be progressive, but is not an angry revolutionary. Unwilling to fight for policy is a real winner according to David Brooks.
I imagine that it is intentional that Pete Buttigieg's campaign website, at least at this time, doesn't bring up foreign policy. Probably because his views are the same as all establishment Democrats. mintpressnews.com/candidate-pete…
"After Gaza slaughter, Buttigieg praised Israeli security responses as 'moving' and faulted Democrats for easy judgment". shar.es/amOvrh
Pete Buttigieg is troubled by the clemency for Chelsea Manning, and clearly has a problem with whistleblowers who expose the crimes of the government. cbsnews.com/news/2020-cand…
Another example of high end Democrat donors shifting around. This one was an early supporter of the Kamala Harris campaign. politi.co/2OOUhfz
Pete Buttigieg governed South Bend like a Republican, and has a history of implementing gentrification. benjaminstudebaker.com/2019/04/05/pet…
He was a pledged delegate at-large for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primary. 953mnc.com/2016/07/06/dem…
He used to work for McKinsey & Company, a consulting firm that, among other things, advised Purdue Pharma on how to turbocharge OxyContin sales and avoid the DEAs efforts. khn.org/OTEzOTIy
Buttigieg's page on the Center for Responsive Politics as well as FEC filings for his Hitting Home PAC both reveal that he still takes money from McKinsey & Company. opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgave2.…
Give it time, we will be able to see where that $7 million came from. fec.gov/data/committee…
Democracy and capitalism are incompatible.
Pete Buttigieg does not support abolishing the private health insurance industry. He supports a public option as opposed to #MedicareForAll. politi.co/2Gl19Ps
Like most of the candidates pushed by the corporate media, they can easily get called out by actual progressives for having zero policy ideas.
Candidates supported by Pete Buttigieg's PAC have something in common, and that is that a few of them are known as the CIA Democrats.
Eleven military intelligence Democrats won seats in the House in 2018. wsws.org/en/articles/20…
Said Democrats also joined the right wing Blue Dog Democrats as soon as getting into office. bluedogcaucus-costa.house.gov/media-center/p…
That one time Pete Buttigieg gave a speech saying all lives matter, then being scrutinized for his roll in demoting South Bend's first black police chief. Thank you for the article @saku_zuckerberg. citylab.com/equity/2019/04…
It had involved exposing racism within the police department. southbendtribune.com/news/local/sou…
@RealTimBlack brings up a good point, which is that Pete Buttigieg's support seems to be manufactured, and appears to come from people that don't exist. Example, the comment section of The Breakfast Club.
A plethora of articles and video on how the homeless people are treated in South Bend under Mayor Pete. Thanks for this @indianaboognish. southbendtribune.com/news/ongoing/h…
Based on his gentrification efforts, he must be besties with real estate developers. freebeacon.com/politics/butti…
Yeah keep an eye out for further threads by @indianaboognish who lives in South Bend and has stories.
Based on polling, guess who is pushing Pete Buttigieg the most?
If you guessed old, rich white people, congratulations. You got it.
A lesson in how right wing media works, I find that they claim that a Republican lite candidate is the greatest threat they face. Happened with Joe Biden, happened with Beto O Rourke, happening now with Pete Buttigieg. politi.co/2FWiqMY
Pete Buttigieg has some imperialist talking points to offer this person asking about how he feels about the situation in Venezuela. While he says he doesn't support sending troops, Buttigieg still supports sanctions.
The first UN rapporteur to visit Venezuela in 21 years said the sanctions were illegal and could amount to crimes against humanity under international law. counterpunch.org/2019/02/01/san…
Steve Grossman seems to think that Pete Buttigieg will revolutionize the Democratic party by being the exact same as every establishment type. thehill.com/homenews/campa…
Pete Buttigieg is not a supporter of free college. insidehighered.com/news/2019/04/0…
Imagine that. Endorsed by the former president of AIPAC. forward.com/fast-forward/4…
From May of 2017, why was Mark Zuckerberg hanging out with Mayor Pete Buttigieg? Shout out to @lovetogive2 and @sistercrow for bringing it to my attention. indy.st/2qoH40a
@HumanistReport is also on it. Pete Buttigieg is not a progressive, but the cable news wants you to think so.
Sounds like Mayor Pete is more than happy to take money from Wall Street. politi.co/2G2OXD0
You can almost always find things like this in establishment news outlets, you just have to hold it up to the light and at an angle.
Benjamin Studebaker on an analysis of the city of South Bend, Indiana under Pete Buttigieg, as well as some of the city's history. benjaminstudebaker.com/2019/04/05/let…
South Bend is in the Top 20 list of highest tenant evictions in the country. wndu.com/content/news/S…
Pete Buttigieg recently went on the Rachel Maddow show to suggest implementing a mandatory military service, at a time when the US wants to go to war with Venezuela and Iran and Russia. Don't worry though, Maddow is still a maniac and calls for reinstating the draft.
That time Howard Dean endorsed Pete Buttigieg to head the DNC. thehill.com/homenews/campa…
Just as a reminder, that lobbyist will be in charge of your voter data. apnews.com/9a47a0def9234e…
Thank you for this @josephsakata. During the run for DNC chair, Pete Buttigieg declined to endorse banning lobbyist donations.
Additional information concerning some of the donors to the Hitting Home PAC. southbendtribune.com/news/local/pet…
I was joking when I said I would make signs that said Pete Buttigieg 2020: Gentrification for All, but one of these donors seems to have that in mind for real.
How nice of the NYTimes to come out and discuss how the establishment Democrats want to shut down progressives, as well as reveal that David Brock wants to continue his operations into 2020. nytimes.com/2019/04/16/us/…
Speaking of which, why is Pete Buttigieg hanging out with Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Neera Tanden?
Nailed it. Pete Buttigieg is besties with real estate executives. readsludge.com/2019/04/16/aft…
Rupert Murdoch's son is among the donors to the Pete Buttigieg campaign. Thanks for the heads up @indianaboognish. thehill.com/homenews/campa…
