There's a huge band of frustrated men of the police force at the Inspectors cadre. Its the rank with the biggest band of career stagnation. A large pool of the 1994 - 2004 sets have arrived at this rank without path to cross to ASP. I started digging this after the Abuja killing.
Tafa Balogun created a big part of the current situation. I suspect the police witnessed the highest influx of people with forged School Certificate within this period. My random survey showed the Inspectors cadre consist of the largest set of poorly educated people in the force.
Today, most ranks below Inspectors, are filled with graduates, and those who joined with SSCE and have returned to school to complete a degree. This may be why d Inspectors cadre feel inferior and are under huge psychological pressure. Tafa barred them from studying in his time.
We often assume hoopla/outcry solves all problems. If we start attempts to go to moon and rockets begin to crash at launch, you'll hear, "Hey! Hey! Rockets are crashing o! Our Astronauts are useless. Let's cancel Arik. Its Aero that's causing it." When do we do systems thinking?

Finally, the part that baffles me the most is the conspiracy of silence at the presidency, amongst state governments and legislators. Nobody highly placed has stepped forward to set the tone, 'enough is enough.' To the people who are close to power, is everything okay up there?
