So one thing I don't understand is why Assange didn't try to escape after 7 years in the embassy. I grew up on prison escape movies (Great Escape, Alcatraz, etc.), and would've found it fun.
I can imagine a ton of scenarios. For example, hire a 6 foot tall woman to come in/out the embassy regularly for a couple weeks, then one day swap her for Assange on the way out.
The building shares a wall with a clothing store next door. So why not try to cut a hole through the wall?? Google Street View shows the facade is covered for construction. Seems like that could be used for escape.
The thing about Great Escaping the Ecuador embassy is that you can test the security. Get somebody with the same height and build as Assange to come in, dress them up, and have them try the escape.
