THREAD: Barr's discussion of the obstruction was significant for MANY reasons: 1) he stressed that he/Rosenstein ASSUMED legal theories were valid, even though disagreed. Raises HUGE issues: WHY would Mueller include unsound legal theories? Wish Barr answered which those were! 1/

3/ detail-oriented lawyers I've ever "met!!" His analysis is spot-on and better than I or many others could craft!
4/ Second, Barr stated that Mueller did NOT claim that he would have found a crime but for the OLC ("office of legal counsel's) opinion re indicting a sitting president. In other words, Mueller's decision to not find a crime was NOT based on Trump being president.
5/ Third & this is a HUGE point: When asked “Why did you conclude you need to conclude there was no crime committed," Barr stated the purpose for using a grand jury and subpoenas is for "one purpose only, to answer yes or no, was the alleged conduct criminal or non-criminal."
6/ Barr then said: "We don't go through this process just to collect the information and throw it out to the public. We do it for the purpose of making that decision, and because Special Counsel didn't, we felt we had to." This point is so significant: Special Counsel was
7/ to investigate whether a crime occurred and make that decision. While media and Dems looked at it as further opposition research, THAT was not why 2 years and millions were spent. And Dems & media need to be called on that & if they want to claim Barr was biased in making
8/ that determination, the blame lies with Mueller who wanted to float the idea that Trump may have committed a crime based on unfounded legal theories & disputed facts, but refused to say so. But in any event, it wasn't just Barr who concluded no crime, but Rosenstein whom
9/9 Dems have NEVER claimed was biased in favor of Trump and if he was, should have recused from Russia just as Session's did. The obstruction aspect of this investigation was nonsense prompted by a vindictive little man named @Comey. END
