John Minford, #SunTzu 5: 14 "His energy is like a drawn crossbow, his timing like the release of a trigger."

For those of you outstanding students who have both bought your own copy of Minford, and like me numbered the verses, skip ahead with me now to #SunTzu 11: 43. It refers to the Skillful Warriors use of his warriors as the release of a crossbow bolt again.

"He leads his men into battle like a man climbing a height and kicking away the ladder; he leads them deep into the territory of the feudal lords and releases the trigger." The verse continues, but we'll return again with detail when we get there.

If you research crossbows, you'll certainly blunder into the following European description, Satan's Arrows. Why? Instant death. A crossbow's bolt packs so much punch into so small a point, that it kills before penetrating. It crushes the rib cage or skull upon impact.

The fundamental should be familiar by now. Potential energy is stored where it will have most devastating impact upon your enemy when released. Timing is employed for maximum impact. Potential energy is converted into kinetic energy in the moment of greatest power.

No one knows exactly who invented the crossbow, nor where it first was used, but best guess is ancient China, maybe as late as 500 BC, or maybe 1 or 200 hundred years earlier. One theory of their impact was that they may have ended the age of chariots in Chinese warfare.

For lightness and speed, a chariot must have a lacquered leather wall. Prior to crossbow bolts, that wall provided adequate protection. Crossbow bolts may have made the entire contraption no longer workable. The power is even greater though, tactically.

You mass your infantry in front of your enemy, and taunt him to attack. You have your crossbow brigades in the woods on either side. Be they cavalry or chariots, as they rush forward, your crossbow warriors devastate them from the flanks. Nothing is safe from a crossbow bolt.

From a simple physics point of view, the structure of a crossbow empowers the greatest possible potential force to be stored, and once released delivered kinetically to the target. Until the arrival of gunpowder, bullets and guns, the crossbow was the apex of ancient weaponry.

Yet a crossbow is but a weapon, not a warrior. It requires a warrior to employ it. A general wields men, warriors. He stores up the energy of the fight in them, and then releases them into battle in exactly same way a crossbowman releases his bolt. Timing. Perfect timing.

What is the MAGA movement? It is a war. As far as elections goes, it is the #WarForAmerica2020. But it is ever so much more. Greatness is, in fact, the ultimate basis of the definition of America Herself. Her greatness has been lost and remains under hellacious threat.

What is leadership, MAGA leadership? It is the ability, exactly as a crossbowman pulls his string and stores its energy, to charge good souls with work to accomplish on MAGA missions. Potential energy must be stored. With devastating timing, it must be released.

The most obvious of all such missions is the 2020 vote. You're a leader. You persuade someone to vote for @realDonaldTrump. On the day of the election, you call, confirm, and drive to pick up your friend and drive him to the voting station. That is a crossbow bolt released.

There is a profound meditation here. Store up energy. With perfect timing release its force. Again, and again, true leaders will build something up, and then employ it at force. Tactics are the where and when. Strategy is the how and why. What is at stake?

In the MAGA movement we know. We know that America Herself, the very greatness of America is at stake. If you would be a leader in our movement, you too must store up energy in some entity, in a follower's heart, and then release it into action with perfect timing. Can you?
