By the time the WH accessed the evidence McGhan had requestedon the Flynn matter, Yates was no longer acting AG. Boente was.

He could make decisions on how expansive the evidence would be. Clearly it would include evidence covering the transition. 1/2

The evidence Nunes describes that he reviewed in Eisenhower building seems to align with the evidence McGhann requested. So if that’s true you are left to believe the 1/27/17 meeting with Yates and subsequent sudden signing of “Muslim ban” were coincidental. I don’t think so. 2/2

1/ During the Flynn matter, Yates contacts McGhan to communicate her concerns. McGhan says he will get back to her. Then in their second meeting on January 27, 2017 McGhan requested the evidence that led to Yates’ concerns about Flynn. Yates agrees.

2/ On the same day, Friday January 27, Trump signs the “Muslim Ban”. Suddenly. Without alerting anyone. It’s was not refined and open to attack.

1/ May 2017 - Rosenstein recommends the firing of Comey for his actions in 2016. Then appoint Mueller thereby extracting the Russia investigation from McCabe and the FBI. Most of the existing team, including Strzok, Page, Weissman and others, are transitioned to Mueller.
2/ June 2017 - At the outset of the S.C. Rosenstein signs the final renewal of the Page FISA.

1/ Interesting timeline of Assange events.

Ecuador grants citizenship and then a few days later, on December 19 2017, they name him councillor in their Russian Embassy.

UK rejects status and Assange escape to Russia “fails”.
2/ Immediately following, 12/21/17, a criminal complaint against Assange is filed under seal in Federal Court. This is the beginning of criminal process that recently led to Assange arrest and attempted extradition.

Seems Assange becomes aware that he will escape the attempt to defeat him.

I have some thoughts on Greenspan's #SNCLavalin opinion piece. I know Brian is a pillar of the criminal defence bar. He is a legend. He also almost offered me an articling job. This is why it pains me to say this. His opinion piece is a dumpster fire: theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
Brian completely misrepresents the AG's role to independently make decisions. Isolation may breed tyranny but that is not what happened in the SNC case - on anyones evidence. In no interpretation of Shawcross doctrine is the idea of an adversarial relationship the the AG a thing.
Brian also parrots the talking point that JWR as a decision-maker did not meaningfully examine the SNC case. That is not supported by the evidence. And it disregards the extraordinary, never used, power of an AG to overrule the DPP.

Creepy acting AG #Whitaker told people his role at @TheJusticeDept was to “jump on a hand grenade” for @realDonaldTrump.

His real job is exactly the opposite: rule of law, fearlessly followed.

This merits further investigation. OPR/@JusticeOIG are you awake?
.@realDonaldTrump tried to put a “loyalist” in charge of the SDNY investigation (doing Cohen case and more), obviously to protect himself.

This is strong evidence of an attempt to obstruct justice, also meriting further investigation.

@SallyQYates could never mention the intercept. They knew it. So all they had to do to protect Flynn was get rid of the acting AG. 1/27/17, day after she exposed Flynn they pushed out the insane first travel ban and were betting Yates would not enforce it.
2. They changed the DOJ succession that Obama had salted with the DC US Attorney, betting that Trump would not pick a black AG. Trump bit on the white guy across the river. Dana Boente. Who is my bet to have been supervising Trump's counter-intel investigation.
3. When I first posted this analysis as I recall late 2017 shortly after Flynn was charged, I got a new Twitter follower: Mike Flynn. 😎

Flynn, you may recall, was Trump's first national security adviser. He lasted less than a month, and resigned in Feb. 2017 amid scrutiny over whether he misled VP Pence and other administratioon officials about his contacts with now-former Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak
Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents on Jan. 24, 2017, about his comms with Kislyak — specifically, requests he made that Russia not escalate things in response to new US sanctions, and that Russia delay a vote or vote against a UN resolution on Israeli settlements
