1. A friend who works in an int'l organization of Catholic priests just interviewed me for a publication. The Qs are related with priesthood formation in Rome & what to do to fix the interreligious aspect of their education. I think am gonna share some of my responses here.
2. Ps: For those of you who question my background. I was interviewed because I was educated in the Vatican for a year. I actually went to classes with these priests in formation. @selvaist you'd be glad in reading my responses.
3. Resp 1: Add more Muslim faculties in Pontifical universities, as well as profs from other religions to talk about their own traditions. Don't study other religions from your own (Catholic) perspective bcs this usually reduces other religions into ‘secondary truth-bearers’.
4. Resp2: Let the sisters in classes to speak. Encourage them to speak. End the patriarchal hegemony in pontifical classrooms. Listening to the voices of women is crucial for a genuine interreligious dialogue.
5. Resp3: Fix your intention before you commit yourself to any interreligious encounters. Genuine interreligious dialogue is NOT a way to prove that Catholicism is the ‘Real Truth’. Be ready to learn from other religious traditions.
6. Resp4: Stop the racism and xenophobia. Genuine interreligious dialogue cannot occur in a context that is rife with white supremacy.
7. Resp5: There have to be discussions & courses that talk about the complicity of the Church in the praxis of colonialism. Interreligious dialogue can't happen unless colonial trauma is genuinely dealt with.
