...to cut short or cancel the cries of "you hate people who don't have money!" I, too, am a person without money, as is my mother. I do not hate people without money. But the answer to "how do I most directly support an author?" is, sadly, "money." We don't have it. We want it.
Now I'm getting the predictable and tiresome YOU HATE LIBRARIES! Because I said it's better for me, in specific, if people buy my books new. I love libraries! That doesn't change the existence of my grocery bill.
