Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face: Republicans in Wisconsin, as in many states, have steadfastly refused to accept federal dollars to expand Medicaid to cover their own constituents, to avoid giving Dems a win. Even if it means their voters suffer.
The truth is, though, that expanding Medicaid is overwhelmingly popular—even in red states. Voters in Utah, Nebraska, and Idaho, GOP bastions all, voted in landslides for pro-expansion ballot initiatives in 2018. In purple WI, 62% of voters support. Do it!

The battle is still for the soul of America. And we now know, clearly, bitterly, that this administration never rethought its atrocities. Never seriously considered treating refugees and immigrants as human beings. Demanded its appointees push ever further.

My grandfather, John Warlick McDonald, died on Friday at age 97. Here he is with me, as a baby. And here he is with me and my baby son—whom we named after him. He was, is, a hero of mine. 1/
My grandfather was every bit a member of the Greatest Generation. But he couldn't fight in WWII, because when he was a kid, before penicillin, he spent two years in the hospital with an arm infection. 13 surgeries. He was 4F; ineligible. So he joined the foreign service instead.
Put himself through law school, driving a laundry delivery truck on the South Side of Chicago. He said his black customers would assess within seconds whether he, a white guy, was a racist—or was someone who'd treat them fairly & with respect. Prided himself on being the latter.

This article has so much information packed into it, I’d like to shine some light on who’s responsible for getting us into debt. And also Scott Walker has over promised to get re-elected.
I’m guessing he’s not done with his political agenda.

In honor of #Medicaid's birthday, I'm going to do a quick thread on why I believe #MedicaidForAll makes a great deal more sense than #MedicareForAll. #Medicaid53
First, most #MedicareForAll proponents describe a health care program that looks a lot closer to Medicaid than it does to Medicare, in terms of benefits & cost-sharing.
This Vox piece from @singlepayertom and @_Middleman says #MedicareForAll should mean zero cost-sharing. Medicare doesn't work that way - Medicaid does. vox.com/the-big-idea/2…
