Dems want candidates to sign a “unity pledge” to have a “constructive” primary, highlight “shared values,” & immediately get behind the eventual nominee.

They want Dem voters not to criticize their candidate’s opponents.

In other words, no accountability for their records.

Problem: Dems running for president want Black votes without appearing beholden to Black voters.

They can’t win without our votes, but neither want to be held accountable for how their policies devastated Black communities nor promulgate a plan to address Black issues.

Dems hem, haw, and stutter to answer questions regarding reparations and a Black agenda because, in order not to offend other constituencies, they feel the necessity to distance themselves from policies that might seem to disproportionately help Black people.

Yes, Democrats supported civil-rights legislation that challenged Jim Crow laws in the South. But they left de facto segregation intact.

Black 2nd class citizenship in places like Baltimore, Ferguson, Oakland, & elsewhere are part of their legacy of unresolved failures.

Dem policies like, Welfare Reform & Crime Bill had a ruinous effect on the Black community & destroyed Black families. Generations were lost to the prison system, families were torn apart and a school to prison pipeline is the legacy of Dems, some who are running for POTUS.

5/8
It’s asinine to expect Black voters, whose families & communities have continually been devastated by policies and practices supported by liberal, and so-called progressives who pretend to be our allies, to neither hold them accountable nor be critical of their past records.

Dems have no problem when LGBT, Jews, and other groups lobby for specific policies, but deem the interests of Black voters too “special” for consideration by a Dem administration. They want to connect with Black voters while distancing themselves from Black interests.

7/8
So the short answer on the unity pledge and asking voters to be muted on critiquing Democrat candidates is an emphatic, “HELL NO.”

Blacks have a right to demand that Dems EARN OUR VOTES and HEAR OUR VOICE.

Stop pushing our issues to the back burner and expecting our votes.
