Up at 5am to start my Blogging for Business course with @timsoulo and @ahrefs! Will be tweeting my takeaways from this course! Excited to start!

#GetAfterIt #Blogging #SEO
#1: Primary Goal for #BloggingforBusiness should be acquiring customers and growing business. Traffic is a vanity metric. No point going viral if no one buys anything. #AGREE!!
#2: Why blogs fail: If you rely solely on "spikes of hope", your blog will become a "flatline of nope" <- LOVE THIS @randfish!

Aim for the compound effect of #contentmarketing and build passive, consistent, targeted traffic that does not fade

#SEO #bloggingforbusiness @ahrefs
#3: Two strategies for growing a blog: Viral Traffic & SEO Traffic. @timsoulo says he's not a big fan of viral traffic. I reckon both sources have their own benefits, but agree that the business value of SEO traffic will outweigh that of viral traffic #bloggingforbusiness
#4. Busting the publish more often myth. You can build your business around a single article! 🤯 This Heathline article gets an estimated 329K organic visitors per month. #BloggingforBusiness
#5: Make Data-Driven #ContentMarketing Decisions: Use @ahref's Keyword Explorer (which has 4.6B kewords) to look for keywords with search demand.

I especially like that it aggregates Global Search Volumes. Also really like the "Parent Topic" and "SERP overview" features.
#6: Don't make #contentmarketing decisions based on the search volume of ONE SINGLE KEYWORD. According to @ahrefs data, the average #1 ranking page will also rank for about 1,000 other keywords.
#7: How to find the best keywords to target: Generate keyword ideas with Answer the Public, Ubersuggest, Google KP and @ahrefs

To determine your chances to rank on Google, prioritise as follows:
1. Low keyword difficulty
2. Look for high traffic
3. Look for few backlinks
#8: Use @ahrefs Site Explorer to do competitor research.

What I Love: TOP PAGES! Site Explorer shows your competitors top pages sorted by top keyword + estimated traffic 💰💰💰
#9: Find low hanging content ideas from the web. Use @ahrefs content explorer (with 846M pages) to search for topics, filter for high traffic and few backlinks.

Ooh i like this - similar to Buzzsumo as it gives social shares by articles as well.
#10. To prioritise content ideas, rank by

1. Traffic potential
2. Ranking difficulty
3. Business value
#11. Write to satisfy searcher Intent. "It really boils down to putting yourself in the shoes of the searchers and using logic to understand what would satisfy them." - @timsoulo #SEO
#12. 75% of pages that rank in Google top 10 don't have a single mention of an exact match keyword in the content (Source: @ahrefs) 🤯

Nailing searcher intent with great content will do 80% of #SEO and keyword optimization for you.
#13. The best advice....

Well i'm not giving everything away. Check out the #bloggingforbusiness course by @timsoulo and @ahrefs here!

Will continue tomorrow! Great course so far!!!
#15. “Publish and Pray” tactic won’t get you very far. Instead of looking for “secret marketing tactics", make your content so awesome, anyone reading it would want to share it with someone else. #ContentMarketing

Great content:
- Quality
- Uniqueness
- Authority in niche
#16. A simple trick to "hacking" authority that writers have been using for ages...

-> Find the best person to interview and interview them. #hack #SEO #ContentMarketing #BloggingforBusiness
#17. Craft unique content with your own data, insights and stories.

Don't create new clones of existing content, bring something entirely new tot he table.
#18. #Backlinks - do you always need backlinks to rank? Most of time, yes but there are exceptions:
- lack of pages on topic
- top pages have 0 backlinks
- you have high domain rating

#SEO #BloggingforBusiness
#19. The most linked content on @ahrefs blog: Data-driven articles that provide a numerical answer to popular SEO questions.

Use @ahrefs Site Explorer to look for "Best Pages by Backlinks" to analyse competitors most linked pages to see which types of posts are most linked to.
#20. Four Common Content Promotion Mistakes:
1. Focusing on short-term traffic over backlinks
2. Giving up on content promotion too early
3. Abandoning old content
4. Not spending money on content promotion
#21. @timsoulo's 110/110 rule - 110% effort on creating an absolutely outstanding content that your readers will love, and 110% effort on promoting it until it reaches the top positions in Google. #LoveThis

#ContentMarketing #SEO #BloggingforBusiness
#22. How to compete with the big guys in Google Search

Don't go after big keywords. #SEO
#23. Best linkbuilding strategies for blogs

1. Comments
2. Steal competitor backlinks
3. Guest blogging
4. Outreach

#Backlinks #SEO #Blogging
#24. Competitor backlinks:

Go to Best Pages by Backlinks report. Filter HTTP code=200. Paste top 5 competitor articles into Link Intersect tool. Use prefix setting. This will show you domains that have linked to all top 5 articles of competitor, but doesn’t link to your blog.
#25. Two awesome tactics to create quality guest post articles

1. Create single awesome resource, then create little splinters of each chapter to submit to guest blogs, linking back to your parent article.
2. Write article for different perspective
#26. Writing ridiculously effective outreach emails:

Find a way to make your outreach email about THEM. Not about you.

Genuine #EgoBait is a good tactic. 😆
#27. Overall the #1 takeaway for me from this AWESOME #BloggingforBusiness course is that write AWESOME content that serves searcher intent and keywords, rankings, backlinks will come naturally.
The course is also filled with many stories and examples from @timsoulo's personal experience, case studies (@Ahrefs and other companies), actionable tips, and further reading.

Thanks again Tim 👍 I loved it and do hope others will check it out.
