how bad is women’s healthcare? well, i’m currently taking a medication off-label for debilitating endometriosis pain that’s used (also off-label) to prevent pre-term labor. it’s on-label use? to help people (read: men) with chest pain exercise longer.
i cannot imagine the world in which a medication is made specifically for my medical needs, let alone one where there’s meds that cater to lifestyle inconveniences, like wanting to exercise longer.

anyhow, that realization helped me understand why the same mental tenacity and laser focus that torture survivors describe sound so much like the skills i use to survive constant, unending, never a break, unable to move pain.
because, here’s the thing, when you have pain that meds don’t help, the only thing that gets you through without losing your goddamn mind or killing yourself is your mental and emotional stamina. so that better be motherfucking STRONG.
