1. @CENTCOM should put a @USMC expeditionary force at Minaugh airbase. The area is either going to fall to Al-Qaeda or to the IRGC and #Hezbola unless we step in and defend our Kurdish and Arab allies who seek a Democratic Syria.
2. If we're going to Syria to end Iranian influence then we need to take positions Iran is holding against the Turkish backed jihadists. Al-Qaeda and ISIS presence in Afrin puts it all well within the 2001AUMF. @RepAdamSmith @SenJackReed @DefenseIntel
3. It's time for the Syrian nightmare to end. Run all the jihadists to ground. I'll bet Iran would withdraw from the norther Aleppo front if we take over the jihadist guard watch. Iran isn't leaving the Mid East. They live there.

1. I have actively lived through two calls for Presidential impeachment. My brother was the AG's chief of staff for one. The reason that Nixon's worked and Clinton's didn't was because it only works, as it was intended, when the President's own party wants the President out too.
2. The counterintelligence investigation will not only turn the country against Trump, it will turn them against the @GOP Congress and may even impact local politics. @SpeakerPelosi please don't be goaded into impeaching Trump until the @SenateGOP is on-board.
3. Until then, just expose Trump and the @HouseGOP @SenateGOP as corrupt traitors who are betraying our military and intelligence forces. When the People turned on Nixon it happened in just a few days. It will happen to Trump and today's GOP, unlike in 1974, will wait too

1. I think this may be what's happening with McGahn. The White House is clearly trying to delay. Had they wanted to litigate the documents they should have gone to court right away. Instead they waited until compliance was due to interfere. In typical civil case Rule 45 requires
2. the party served object in writing within 14 days. What we have here is not an objection by McGahn but by the White House not a party, on day 15. What I missed yesterday is the obvious fact that McGahn's attorneys have the documents. They were likely the conduit to Mueller.
3. I don't think the House has a clear set of Subpoena rules but I would bet you could get a federal judge to say that if the White House wanted to object they had to file likely by Monday, that was 14 days. But file. In any event, McGahn has not objected he has deferred.

1. Because @USTreasury has a lawful duty to turn over the @realDonaldTrump tax returns, I would file a petition for writ of mandamus combined with request for preliminary injunction against obstructing Congress if @stevenmnuchin1 doesn't produce them. Have him held in contempt
2. by the US District Court. It is proof he has violated 18 USC 1505 for possible impeachment and prosecution in 2021. IMO the committees need to use mandamus when the basis exists. It will create a better record and with the injunction a prompt decision at the DC

These hard-won gains were achieved through the dedication of America’s fighting partners on the ground — Iraqi security forces, #Kurdish Peshmerga, Syrian opposition fighters and the Syrian Democratic Forces (#SDF) — all of whom have paid a dear price in blood. -@brett_mcgurk
The SDF has suffered thousands of casualties. Until this past week, 2 Americans had died in combat in Syria. 4 were killed Wednesday in a suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State—the first of its kind against our forces in Syria coinciding with uncertainty about the mission.)
My counterparts in coalition capitals were bewildered. Our fighting partners in the SDF, whom I had visited regularly on the ground in Syria, expressed shock and then denial, hoping Trump would change his mind.
