On that ominous note, I’d like to talk about the order of succession for a bit. Next in line is VP Pence, of course. Let’s say Trump and Pence are simultaneously impeached and removed. Do you know who’s next in line?

I support healthy debate about timing of impeachment. But to those who are making it ALL about Nancy - have you considered the optics of having her lead the impeachment charge? In light of the succession order?

Whatever the timing of impeachment, it is not appropriate for it to be seen as a Pelosi idea. And although I do think formalizing an impeachment inquiry is ripe, and could be done NOW without rushing the House vote, I also think there are reasons to wait.
And thus, I do not support those making personal attacks on Pelosi for her posture in this debate. Ideal timing for a House vote on impeachment is mid-November, after the Roger Stone trial lifts a substantial fraction of the HOM blanket, and the public can see ALL the evidence.
I believe we can and should formalize an impeachment inquiry NOW, with public hearings to continue apace, looking toward a House resolution in mid-Oct and impeachment vote in mid-Nov.
