As if Alexander Nix at @CannesLions wasn’t bad enough. Cambridge Analytica’s Chief Data Officer is speaking at AI For Good (!) even though he committed mass data abuse breaking UK Data Protection Act in US elections. File under Unbearable Rehabilitations. aiforgood.itu.int/speakers/
Here’s a receipt for that striking allegation. I have others that I won in UK courts that we can save for another day. This is from UK ICO report to Parliament.
Senate Judiciary members have unanswered questions about Cambridge Analytica that weren’t revealed in the redacted Mueller Report and yet some of the scoundrel executives in question are being celebrated and recuperated at conferences. Bannon-level Unreal.
Facebook strenuously objects to the judge unsealing these redactions from the suit filed by @AGKarlRacine and yet the former executives of Cambridge Analytica are invited to major speaking engagements. Please tell me, what’s the rush to rehabilitate them?
You may have missed AI For Good speaker Dr Alex Tayler in the infamous undercover @Channel4News videos where the world finally discovered what SCL really is. channel4.com/news/exposed-u…
Everytime I read the casual journalistic summation of Cambridge Analytica in various references to invoke data bad guys doing bad privacy stuff as merely improperly using Facebook friend data it makes it that much harder to keep the faith.
As shorthand for a data privacy cataclysm, Cambridge Analytica is a useful trope. But don’t underestimate a reader’s interest in why it’s so devastating and why it matters.
