PSA to non-lawyer citizens from another non-lawyer/Thread:
The 6th Amendment grants citizens the right of having representation in court. What does that mean to the lawyer? They have to zealously represent their client - even if that means making arguments that sound ridiculous.
Making no argument is worse than making AN argument, no matter how crazy. So when we hear crazy arguments from Manafort or Trump's lawyers, we should allow ourselves to get concerned IF: 1) Did the judge buy the ridiculous argument and rule with them?
2) Was it Trump's personal lawyers or WH counsel and/or Justice making the dumb argument Because WH counsel and Justice are OUR lawyers, not Trump's.

THIS ⬇️ argument was by Trump's personal lawyers, who are just doing their job - offering an argument.

While its hard to see anything that Trump does as inspiring, his lawyers' ridiculous arguments (Hi Rudy!) should inspire we citizens to see our rights afforded under the 6th Amendment - the right to counsel.

But that doesn't mean that right always comes with a good argument. 😋
