The Emiratis were pointing out dents in the side of tankers about thirty feet above the water line and blamed the Houthis for using drones in front of the UN. So far I have only seen visual damage to one ship and it is in the wrong place to do damage. reuters.com/article/us-usa…
The Houthis blow shit up real good. They also film it and post PR. The Iranians have zero problem harassing shipping, even U.S. warships. Iran even arrested an American crew and still make fun of us every year. They even tell us how they would attack. theaviationist.com/2014/05/22/pas…
The Iranians could lay waste to all the tankers in Fujairah using all manners of missiles, torpedos, air strikes, drones etc. They have 1000 small boats. What does Iran get from a failed attack against shipping vs taking out US/KSA//UAE military assets? warisboring.com/like-it-or-not…
The tell tale "stain" in all this #fuckery is the pattern of "petty tricks" and feints used by the Trump White House in their attempts to shift the global needle. There are pros out there that game this stuff all day long and Trump is failing. #TryHonesty markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/st…
Their "swarm tactics" using small fast boats or even rockets or drones have already proved to outsmart Patriot type batteries and even Phalanx systems. Iran's proxy attacks can come from anywhere anytime. It's not about winning. Just bleeding.
in addition we are attempting to do all this in Iran's back yard (front yard too which means the asymmetric value on low price, multiple attacks is minimal yet ours is expensive. Our local allies like UAE/KSA have proven to be massively incompetent in Yemen. Not good odds.
Internally the CIA has been working with ethnic groups (Kurds, Arabs, Baluchs) to stir things up. Our elevation of MEK, a commie cult has not earned us much respect but all regimes can be toppled. Its what's inside our "government in a box" that will matter.
"Government in a box " a was tried in Marjah, Afghanistan. It was a....disaster. Our efforts to steer the Afghan govt have created an expensive hollowed out central governments vs low rent insurgents wired.com/2010/05/marjah…
Iraq was more successful but the government leaned towards Iran after Nissor square ended the presence of a friendly occupation/partner. Libya, well we don't even want to talk about Libya, unless you are John Bolton and consider Venezuela a great example of regime change.
Again Trump does not understand what "diplomacy"vs "threats" vs "punitive expedition" vs "regime change" vs "invasion" vs "forward leaning foreign policy" is. There is a science to this. Hell, they teach it salespeople and hostage negotiators all day long. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negotiati…
There may be some brutal irony in all this. Trump's foreign policy record may end up being worse than Hillary Clinton's.
