Here we go. PM is making her final Brexit move today, and it’s Rooseveltian in name. She persuaded Cabinet to endorse her “New Deal”, as No10 now describes it, and will outline it in a speech at 4pm this afternoon (1)
May told Cabinet, of the WAB, that “it’s vital to find a way to get it over the line”. So prepare for some big new compromises aimed at wavering Labour MPs, especially on customs (2)
There will also be an enshrining in law via the WAB of the promises agreed with the EU on Alternative Arrangements, but not to go further, as that would mean EU could refuse to ratify. So the backstop firmly stays, to Tory Brexiteers’ disappointment (3)
