The now high profile threats from Russia and China were largely invisible to the media before November 2016. But they were probably 'felt' by a large number of voters who knew something was wrong but couldn't put their finger on exactly what.
The question is which was fiction. The halcyon days of the "rule based global order" before Brexit and Trump? Or the threat from Russia and China after it?
If the former then we are in the midst of an expose far larger than anyone, other than UFOlogists and cryptozoologists, have ever dreamed of.
