1. Been a weird day - election rules have meant we haven’t been able to report fully on what’s been going on
2. Now polls have closed... several Cabinet ministers say they expect May to name the date tmrw, one told me they might quit if she doesn’t
3. Likely date for start of contest 10th June, so May still in place fully for Trump visit, then ministers hope contest for next PM can be wrapped up by end of July
4. Some of PM’s team been called back for tmrw when expected to be elsewhere but....
5. May is in constituency tonight and there is no official confirmation or comment from No 10 about what is happening - but definite sense they aren’t trying to fight this anymore
6. Important as ever to say she has defied expectation so many times before, and could do so again - but clear she has now lost faith of many in Cabinet + backbenchers will try to force her out if she doesn’t move
