It's time for another CROSSNIQ+ #y2kwednesday!

We're partnering with @y2k_aesthetic, the #1 spot in cyberspace for vintage y2k design, to take a look at some y2k design that inspired the look of CROSSNIQ+.

This week's feature - Y2K-ERA VIDEO GAMES that inspired our own!
Dance Dance Revolution (Konami)

A worldwide phenomenon, DDR needs no introduction!

For CROSSNIQ+, we took inspiration from the UI and transitions of 90's DDR games - they make menus, normally a chore, fun to navigate, and they're full of y2k flair like folder tabs and barcodes
TECHNO DRIVE (Namco)

An arcade-only driver's ed simulator, this game truly showcased Namco's graphic design talent in the late 90's.

Our inspirations? Too many to count! Just take a look for yourself - it's full of blobjects, icons, stylish meters, and cool y2k colors!
Cool Cool Toon (SNK)

This rhythm game from the early days of the PS2 is oozing with superflat y2k style. The character designs, in particular, were a major reference for the cast of CROSSNIQ+. They embody the simple coloring and streamlined cartoon proportions popular in the era
Ridge Racer Type 4 (Namco)

A beloved PS1 classic, R4 uses y2k design elements to create a visual style all of its own.

In CROSSNIQ+, we took particular note of R4's use of dynamic, thin black lines, which seamlessly blended from UI frames into transitions.
Fantavision (Sony)

An unusual fireworks-based puzzle game, Fantavision's menus and UI feature many small dynamic flourishes that influenced some of the cosmetic bells and whistles in CROSSNIQ+. Our idea of using visualizers for UI decoration came from Fantavision!
Bust-a-Groove 2 (Metro Graphics)

A unique hybrid rhythm/fighting game, Bust-a-Groove 2's character designs evoke images of y2k-era vinyl stickers and rave flyers.

This game's use of icons for representing its characters heavily inspired CROSSNIQ+'s focus on icons.
Do YOU see similarities to any other y2k-era games when you look at CROSSNIQ+? Let us know in your replies!

We've been so happy to hear from all of our fans that we've captured the y2k spirit. Tune in next week to hear more about how y2k design influenced CROSSNIQ+!
