There is no way this can end poorly for me. I think Disney is a legit monopoly and threat in many ways, and so is the GOP. I am fine with them having a war of mutually assured destruction.

Disney is dangerous because of the political influence they have and how they've managed to monopolize our entertainment and control copyright law. Even if the current incarnation of Disney is good it doesn't mean it is safe for anyone for them to retain that power.
This isn't a slight against Disney, but an acknowledgement of the fact that monopolies - especially intellectual monopolies - are dangerous for civilization.
Many voices and ideas make us strong.
Monopolies make a civilization weak.
Losing voices in entertainment, news, books, anything... that puts our culture (Western/American/Any) at risk of being controlled not by the people but by a single person.
It's the Big Brother problem.
You can't let one person or company do your thinking for you. And no matter how much a single company tries to be diverse and inclusive they can't. There has to be a dissenting voice.
So, yes, let the GOP and Disney fight it out.
The GOP will be quick to pass some monopoly-breaking laws that might benefit us in the future.
Disney will utterly destroy the GOP.
I can live with that.
Not with the hope that Democrats will replace every political party, but that we'll be able to introduce more political parties into the mix and get away from a 2-party system.

Okay, @CNBC, you have no one fact checking on your editorial staff so I'm going to do you a solid and edit for you.

Let's start with the income... $100,000 - That's an hourly income of $50/hr, 40 hours per week, for 50 weeks of the year.
You can earn $50/hr, @cnbc, but you need ten years experience. A 25yo will not have that. So they'll get minimum wage.
We'll pretend this person is in Seattle where minimum wage is $15/hr.
They earn $30,000 per year.
This is quite a problem, because there isn't an apartment for rent for $825/month in Seattle. There is one in Madison, WI. The commute is going to be costly, but it'll be worth it.Right, @cnbc?

The next step after making friends is to get them militarily involved. A classic mechanism for this is mutual defense agreements that broadly say 'If you are attacked I will leap to your defense (and vice versa)'. Such agreements can extend across many countries.

Mutually Assured Destruction is a fundamentally flawed paradigm.

If someone launches nukes at America it would be STUPID to then retaliate, lose all our nukes, and kill their civilians. Hold the nukes to defend America going forward and begin rebuilding.
This is just basic game theory. Imagine you're boxing with someone. And they throw a punch. Do you simultaneously drop your guard and punch back so you both get knocked out? I've never seen a fight like that.
The easiest way to see that MAD is retarded is that the Establishment loves it and won't question it.

The @CDCgov cites 133M as the number of chronically-ill Americans who have #cancer, like I do, or another illness that impedes their daily lives.

The majority of that 40% of the US population still have to work despite often disabling illness because we cannot afford not to.

When you're in your 20s writing about other 20somethings dying, it changes you.

Then I got #breastcancer at 26.
