I had the honor of participating in the 10th Clean Energy Ministerial / 4th Mission Innovation ministerial meeting #CEMMI2019 as a representative of the Finnish youth.

The participation was facilitated by @studentenergy (thanks!)
@studentenergy There was a total of two youth representatives from Finland: my colleague Petra Raussi (VTT) was also representing the Finnish youth.
@studentenergy The CEM/MI ministerial meetings are about cleaning the world energy sector and presenting common themes the countries around the world are working on.

Here’s a collection of my live-tweets from the meeting & other related tweets.
@studentenergy Newspieces by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment:

@studentenergy We youth representatives had our own parallel program and the option to attend various side events at CEM. We had a full day of youth programme before the meeting days began: ice breaker sessions, lectures on communication and a couple of visitors (incl. the CEM/MI secretaries)
@studentenergy Youth programme: ”Leading our Low-Carbon Future: Intergenerational Collaboration as a Solution”

@studentenergy Side event: ”Dispatchable Clean Energy: Cutting the Cost of a Low-Emissions Future”:

@studentenergy This was one of the nuclear-specific side events at CEM. The main take was that we need reliable, dispatchable low-carbon energy sources as well, and nuclear fits the bill.

Nuclear + renewables should be friends, collaborate, for a cleaner future.
@studentenergy Testing out a fuel cell car:

This was real nice. As smooth as an electric car, but far longer range!

@studentenergy Side event: ”Breakthroughs: Flexible Nuclear Energy Systems in a Cleaner Energy World”:

@studentenergy Second nuclear specific side event, with roughly the same message. We need both nuclear and renewables, and we need to build massive amounts of both to displace fossil fuels.
@studentenergy Side event: ”Women and Young Leaders Talk New Nuclear”:

Third nuclear side event, organized by the Canadian Nuclear Association.

@studentenergy Unofficial side event: ”The New Fire” movie night:

So some very productive nuclear people arranged an extra side event.

@studentenergy That's @Kaikenhuippu there in the panel. Telling us how he got interested in nuclear.
@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu Side event: “Long-term Energy Scenarios”:

This was a real nice event by International Renewable Energy Agency, mainly on how and why scenario modelling should be done, and how to communicate it. To ensure the scenarios are also actually useful.

@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu Youth programme: “Clean Energy Policy Hackaton”:

The hackaton was really nice, we had a great, motivated group. (All the groups were!)

@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu Rachel Kyte, CEO and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Sustainable Energy for all, visited the youth programme:

@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu She was very nice, didn’t mind answering our questions despite being quite busy.
@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu And now that You've gotten this far:

If You haven't already, go check out my past live-tweeting of the nuclear district heating seminar held in 3/2019, Helsinki.

@studentenergy @Kaikenhuippu A short video on the innovation ecosystem "Smart Otaniemi" was presented to ministers and other officials at CEM.

@VTTFinland is an integral part of the Smart Otaniemi ecosystem, together with various other parties.
