The Iridium satellite system's growth assumptions ignored:

Phones didn't work indoors or in a car.

Even if phones were outdoors they didn't work without line of sight to the satellite (no blocking object)

Phones were very big, heavy and expensive.

The service was expensive
All broadband satellite constellations like SpaceX's Starlink, OneWeb and Amazon's Kuiper are dependent on the availability of affordable, electronically steered ground terminals that can operate at millimeter frequencies like Ka and Ku (not just low bandwidth store and forward).
If someone says: "We have that affordably electronically steered antenna now" the question to ask is: "Why isn't that affordable satellite Ka/Ku band affordable electronically steered antenna being used to communicate via a GEO on moving vehicles, ships and planes right now?"

The closure of this deli is a tragic reminder of the impact of "wholesale transfer pricing" on the availability of delicious Vietnamese food. seattle.eater.com/2019/6/14/1867… To offer condolences, please eat at its neighbor Saigon Deli at 12th and Jackson, preferably a delicious Bahn mi.
I am still haunted daily by the closure of Bakemans, which was my all time favorite sandwich shop. The location of that beloved restaurant remains empty, a testament to "human inhumanity to humans."

My real estate investor friend's explanation of why they were forced out is:
At one time there were about 40 jazz clubs on Jackson St. which bisects the International District. The clubs were supported by the many gambling operators who paid off Seattle police and prosecutors under the "tolerance system" that I wrote about here: google.com/amp/s/25iq.com…

"Smoking is tough because you’ve got to get the temperature set in a kamado grill or a cold smoker, offset grill. These new pellet grills are almost unfair. You load up the pellets, you turn it on, and you walk away for nine hours and you have a perfect brisket.”
I may pull the trigger on another smoker or two.

"A pitmaster at Central City BBQ said he’ll use a Flame Boss at times, but he doesn’t always use one to make a brisket. You can cook brisket in a trash can. If you can maintain a constant temperature, you can cook a good brisket.”
