This is the language of fascism. 
George Galloway is, and I can't stress this enough, virulently Islamophobic, but has spent large parts of his life pretending to speak for Britain's Muslim community, almost exclusively to advance his own racist, conspiracist, authoritarian foreign policy ideas.
The wider Labour left find Galloway far too toxic to touch these days, but very few are willing to publicly acknowledge that his world view is built almost entirely on racism, largely because they are blind to it in their own ranks & because identifying it would implicate others.
And Galloway is directly responding to this. I'd call it a dogwhistle but it's more like a loudspeaker at this point.
There are people involved in the left who still gaslight on this issue, downplay the intersection between segments of the far-right and the far-left over the Assad regime, and how that metastasised into full blown Islamophobia. But it's clear to see for anyone that is looking.
Identical talking points, identical demonisation of Muslims & scaremongering against refugees. Yet there is still no broader discussion on Islamophobic discourse on the far left, despite the fact that it is often indistinguishable from far-right rhetoric on foreign policy.
Some activists think they can't be Islamophobic because in their minds they are supporters of Palestine, but here is a perfect example of how easily the disgusting, dehumanising & racist propaganda the far-left frequently deploys against Syrians is used against Palestinians too
