There's a shocking lot in @ewarren's platform that resonates with @RadxChange ideas. Let's just focus on taxes. First consider her "real business profits tax". This is a small tax, and only on large public companies. The idea is that they have to pay tax on the profit figure
reported to investors, not just the taxable income. This resonates well with the idea of the COST, as it taxes something businesses have an incentive to inflate and thus should actually lead to better corporate governance and better taxation through countervailing incentives.
Or take her wealth tax on wealth above $50 million. This actually might not be a terrible way to thin about how you could do a COST at a national scale in the relatively near term. Every citizen could, for free, value things at a total of $50 million. This would ensure
That anyone bought out of their stuff would be compensated with at least $50 million. Most people would just lump everything together and assess $50 million. But for the very wealthy who want to assess above this, there would be a tax. @ewarren has 2%, I'd say more like 7%
But a pretty good start! This is not to mention all her fabulous ideas on antitrust, co-determination, matching funds for more open housing, etc. I hope we have a chance to work with her!
