There is currently a heated debate in the US as to whether the detention centres for immigrant children can rightfully be called ‘concentration camps’. The US Justice Department is rather helping the case for the comparison
I know that concentration camps have strong Holocaust associations but in my own mind, I distinguish them from death camps - where the purpose (as opposed to one effect) was to murder, and I also know they existed before. My understanding is Britain used them in the Boer War
So whilst it may not actually be helpful because of the reaction distracting from the issue, at some point the comparison may be appropriate. And that point may be children not being given sanitation or beds
