Let's make this easy: Can any of the people who are comparing temporary detention centers at the border to concentration camps explain to me what they think should be done with people who cross the border without authorization and are caught or surrender to CBP?
Easy to invoke hyperbole and yell about a problem, but what's your solution?

I only see 2 alternatives:

1) No enforcement. Just release them into America w/o vetting.

2) Improve facilities/length of detention. AOC opposes this. She has repeatedly voted against more resources.
Most Americans (rightly) think option 1, which AOC clearly wants, is insane.

The main roadblock to option 2 is members of Congress like AOC who keep rejecting funding for resources needed to make that possible.

No one is saying it is ok because Obama did it. People are highlighting these things happened then (& were largely ignored) to reframe the debate so people realize this is complex and there aren't easy answers. 1/2
It's important to note the hypocrisy because it is being framed in a way now that puts 0 pressure on the people contributing to the problem to support realistic solutions.

AOC, Omar etc. proudly oppose any funding & they get cheers because this is framed as just a Trump problem.
If people recognize this is a continuous problem that isn't due to just 1 admin, then they might demand Congress provides funding necessary to alleviate the problem instead of pretending it can magically go away if current admin wasn't evil.

This thread is full of factual errors. This is part of the problem. Someone can write something that is full of errors and it is spread as if it is informed analysis, which leads to more misinformation.
If I really have to, I can go through the whole thread.

Tweet 1: I never argued this was Obama's fault. I even defended Obama admin's actions in different thread.

Tweet 2: It has been repeatedly argued in court that Flores should be read narrowly (including on safe & sanitary)
Tweet 3: The 2017 ruling, which was still based on many actions during the Obama admin, found way more violations than just that.

Tweet 5: Kids were kept for extended periods in 2014, too. That just wasn't the issue in this case.

Let me give you an example of just how dishonest all these arguments have been:

How many people are aware that the conditions being discussed in this viral clip from the legal case re toothbrushes and sleep occurred during the Obama administration?

This was an appeal of a 2017 ruling related to a violation of the Flores agreement during the Obama admin. The gov't lawyer's job is not to argue about whether ICE should provide those things (they should), but that the Obama admin didn't violate the Flores agreement.
Her argument has nothing to do with any unique policy from the current administration. Informed people know that, but they have been using this for days to suggest some unique and intentional cruelty is being enforced now.

If Democrats in Congress really believe that detention centers on the border are “concentration camps”

They have a moral obligation to give Trump the money he needs to build the wall

NOW

Stopping illegal crossings is now a moral imperative
Republicans have a plan to stop illegal crossings at the border

And thus to eliminate the need for detention centers there

Democrats are obstructing it

They bear the blame for any “atrocities” that are occurring there
Current law REQUIRES President Trump from detaining illegal border crossers

And, if Democrats are right, current law PROHIBITS President Trump from building a wall to stop illegal border crossings

First, 6 million Jewish people were slaughtered out of anti-Semitic hatred, but 17 million people total were systematically murdered. This included persons with disabilities, Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, LGBTQ folks, and other groups. Don't erase that.
